Here are the songs and music videos that I can’t get enough of this week. From RnB superstars The Black Eyed Peas to pop’s finest and through to alternative rock favourites, here’s what you need in your life this week, July 2015.

The Black Eyed Peas – Back to Yesterday
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, the original lineup of The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am, Taboo and Apl.de.Ap released their throwback track ‘Back to Yesterday’ and also premiered the video through Apple Music. The song references the music and influences of the era during which they formed and the outcome is pretty damn smooth. Fergie was not part of the original lineup and so, sadly, she is not present in the song or video. The video is simple yet slick, seeing the trio make their way through a record store and reminiscing about the music that they love, appearing on the covers of the records they pick out.

Demi Lovato – Cool for the Summer
Finally, after the epic lyric video that the hardworking Demi Lovato shared with us, we the visuals that mark a brand new, more confident era of the USA’s most likeable popstar. Cool for the Summer hears her trying out new vocal ranges and mixes sweet catchy melody with a dance floor filling chorus. Plus, she’s looking damn good too. Bring on the album.

Major Lazer – Lost ft Mo (Frank Ocean cover)
Wow. No one saw this coming, a reggae spin on Frank Ocean’s ‘Lost’ featuring ‘Lean On’ vocalist / collaborator Mo and boy it’s great. Major Lazer’s third studio album was released at the start of June and the single ‘Lean On’ is one of the biggest hits of 2015 to date, giving the team the perfect reason to try out something different with Mo. Listen and love.

Ella May – Over You
Introducing Australia’s latest power-pop export that’s showing a lot of promise, the lovely Ella May. She’s been working hard on her craft for the last few years, releasing material over the last two years or so but it’s this track ‘Over You’ that should be the track that everyone hears. An anthem to getting over ex lovers, this track comes with such a strong, confident chorus you’ll be singing along before you know it. It’s the kind of track I could imagine the likes of Cheryl Cole or Nicole Scherzinger mastering. Love it. Well done Ella May. and don’t get me started on the final chorus. BOOM!

Carly Rae Jepsen – Run Away With Me
Though actually released last Friday, I couldn’t let the irresistible Carly Rae Jepsen slip through Swide’s fingers. The video for her new single ‘Run Away With Me’ is just as charming as the song itself, using ‘found footage’ to reflect the retro style of the track to perfect effect. Though nothing will ever beat the success of ‘Call Me Maybe’ i’d say that this is perhaps much catchier than her global hit… what do you think?

Foals – Mountain At My Gates
And to finish things off this week, we have the new single from Foals, taken from their upcoming fourth album and judging by this and lead single, title track ‘What Went Down’, we are in for one hell of a treat. On the first single they were sounding bigger, brasher and more aggressive than ever, and this track reveals a softer side to the album that we can expect too. With each album their sound evolves yet they never fail to emulate that Foals sound that we expect and love. I literally love each and every single that this band has released since they started out. Can’t wait.
